OBITUARY
Richard Marvin Griffin
MAY 10, 1938 – DECEMBER 29, 2021

We lost a great man on Wednesday, Dec 29th. Richard (Dick) Griffin was born on May 10th, 1938 in Rawlins Wyoming. After high school, he joined the Navy and became a Corpsman, and served our country with pride. Just a short time after returning from the Marines, in October 1960, he met Rose Marie Kalan and they were married on December 31, 1960. Rose Marie and Richard had a relationship that was heart-felt and hard-won. No truer love could be found.

Richard and Rose Marie moved to Laramie Wyoming and Richard enrolled at the University of Wyoming. He graduated in 1965 and immediately began working in insurance – a business he loved and to which he contributed greatly. He was a master salesperson, with a super-strong commitment to his clients. He blazed trails designing insurance programs to benefit restaurants, tennis clubs, oil tankers, fishing vessels, and so much more. A stroke ended his career at age 79 well before he was ready.

Richard and Rose Marie raised two daughters, Rene Lynn, and Nicole Marie. There were boating trips, camping trips, road trips, snow trips, golf trips, spelling practice, soccer practice, driving practice, and so much more. He was an amazing father and shared his love for being silly, working hard, and being the best person one could be.

In addition to traveling the world with Rose Marie, he spent great times with his four grandsons, Harrison, Kennedy, Nathaniel (Nate), and Anthony (Antz). He loved his grandsons. There were fishing trips, epic Monopoly games, golfing, cannonball contests, soccer games, concerts, plays, pumpkin carving, and of course giant grandpa bear hugs.

Richard is survived by Rose Marie, his daughters Rene and Nicole, sons in law Henry Kim and Bryan Yeh, and his grandsons Harrison Kim, Kennedy Kim, Nate Griffin-Yeh, and Antz Griffin-Yeh. We all miss him very much. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Richard's memory to St. Jude at stjude.org. He loved kids and would appreciate your support of this impactful organization.

He will be laid to rest at the Sacramento National Cemetery. Services will be private given COVID

Trident Society was entrusted with final arrangements.
Richard will be laid to rest on Friday, March 4, 2022, at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, in Dixon, CA.
