William Irwin, a life-long resident of this vicinity, died at his home at Yagerville, on Wednesday, February 15, after a lingering illness. Mr. Irwin was eighty-six years of age on August 8, 1932. He was a Civil War veteran [Co. D, 56th Reg., NY Volunteers]. Mr. Irwin's wife, (Mary) Frances Barber, died a number of years ago.

Surviving are eight children: Mrs. Amy Krum of Parksville, Barbara at Lackawack Hill, Matthew at Neversink, Dave at Ravena, Jake at Selkirk, and Mrs. Moses DePuy, Hershell and Elmer, living at Yagerville. There are two brothers, Abram, of Montela, and Eugene of New Paltz. One sister, Mrs. Sarah Hornbeck; also forty-two grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren and one great, great grandchildren. Besides several nieces and nephews surviving.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Sherman Gillette, at the Montela M. E. Church on Saturday. The six sons acted as pallbearers. Burial was in the Furman Cemetery at Yagerville.
