Rosetta Sue "Rose" Clayton, age 70, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 2:35 p.m. on Monday, February 21, 2022, at the Sarcoxie Nursing Center in Sarcoxie, Missouri. She was born January 19, 1952, in Mt. Vernon, Missouri, the daughter of Harvey Thurman and Pauline Frances (Smith) Cole.
Rose retired from the laundry department at the Missouri Rehabilitation Center in Mt. Vernon.
On August 15, 1970, she married Jerry Lou Clayton, Sr. in Monett, Missouri. He preceded her in death on June 8, 1995.
Rose is survived by one son, Jerry Clayton, Jr. and his wife, Nerissa, of Fairview, Missouri; one daughter, Lisa Clayton, of Republic, Missouri; one brother, Richard Cole, of Conway, Missouri; five grandchildren, Jordan Clayton and his wife, Tristen, Spenser Clayton and his wife, Shelby, Tannar Clayton and his wife, Brooklyn, Zander Clayton and their mother, Jolene Clayton and Justin Scheel; four great-grandchildren, Brodie, Jamie, Oakley and Titus.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey, and Pauline; husband, Jerry; son, Jamie Clayton and brother, Donald Cole.
A memorial visitation will be held from 3:00–5:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Missouri.
