He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Martha Coleman; two brothers, Harold Coleman and Larry Coleman; and sisters, Nina Bledsoe and Shirley Ellis. Surviving are his adopted daughter, Lesa Taylor (Charles) of Whitmire and brother, Eddie Coleman of Albany, OR.
