Lonnie LeRoy Taylor was the youngest of 4 children born in Fairbury, Nebraska on October 5, 1953. He passed away in Geneva, Nebraska on February 26, 2022 at the age of 68 years, 4 months, and 21 days.

Lonnie spent most of his life in Fairmont, Nebraska where he met his wife Debbie. They were joined in marriage on May 11, 1979. They were blessed with a daughter and son along with three wonderful grandchildren, who were the light of his life.

Over the years he worked as a carpenter for West Brothers, Chuck Hulse, and then for himself. He spent a couple of years working at Lewis and Clark Lake at the marina where his love of boating and camping began. He then worked for Fairmont Public School as a janitor. He enjoyed working with the staff and students. His last job was working as a pilot car driver for Jim Daws, his longtime childhood friend.

Lonnie had 2 passions, cooking and being a volunteer fireman. He indulged his love of cooking and grilling with Prime Time Catering and his partner and close friend Bobby Hoeft. Lonnie served as a volunteer fireman for 40 years on the Fairmont Fire Department. He had posts of Fire Chief, assistant Fire Chief, and President over the years.

Lonnie was preceded in death by his mother Ruby and step father Max West and mother-in-law Shelia Richards.

A Memorial Service for Lonnie will be held on Friday, March 4, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fairmont Community Church in Fairmont, Nebraska. Pastor Monica Magoola will preside over the Memorial Service.

A book signing and time to greet the family will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva.

A celebration and time of food and fellowship will be held at the Fairmont Legion following the Memorial Service.

Memorials are suggested to the family.
