Alexander W. Leggat, Jr., 58 of Mt. Vernon, NY passed away peacefully on May 10, 2008. Mr. Leggat was born in Mt. Vernon, NY on February 21, 1950 to the late Alexander W. Leggat and Emma Gladys Leggat. He attended Mt. Vernon public schools graduating from Westchester Community College in 1970. He live briefly in California for 17 years before returning to Mt. Vernon to become the primary care-giver for his mother and reunite with his children. He is survived by his three sons, Alexander, Lester and Christopher of Ossining, NY; his mother Emma Gladys Leggat of Mt. Vernon, NY, his brother in law Francis Tober; his two nieces Margaret Robbins; Kristen O'Brien and his nephew David Tober and their families. He is remembered fondly by his friends Caroline Leggat and Lester and Pam Polidoro. He was predeceased by his father, the late Mt. Vernon Fire Chief Alexander W. Leggat and his sister Elaine Tober. Visiting hours will be held at the Pelham Funeral Home on Tuesday evening only from 7-9 pm. Religious services will be at the Funeral Home on Wednesday morning at 10 am. Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to your local fire department.
