Roy Steven Watson, age 63, of King George, Virginia passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2022, in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He was born October 28, 1958, in Kilgore, Texas, to parents Dora Ellen Modisette Watson Whittington and Roy Norman Watson.

Mr. Watson received his Bachelors of Arts in English and was few credits shy of a Master of Science in Engineering at University of Texas- Tyler. He was certified in Industrial Safety Professional OSHA Training. After his education he moved to Virginia and started working for the Federal Government as a Director of OSHA Safety Engineer. He was over many large projects and loved working next to his co-workers. When he wasn't ensuring projects and deadlines, he was spending time with his wife on the lake, shopping at the Amish markets, or traveling the world giving to others in need. He grew up in the 60s, 70s, and 80s, when rock and roll became the new trend. He and his brother were a duo growing up and were friends for life.

Roy was a member of the Emmanuel Korean Baptist Church in Stafford, Virginia. He married Sherry Lee on April 25, 2014 in Westmoreland State Park in Virginia. He was a leader in his community and church.

Mr. Watson was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gregory Lynn Watson; paternal grandparents, John Roy Watson & Aubrey Pearl Dunklin Watson; paternal great-grandfather, Papa John (John T. Watson); and maternal grandparents, Willie Clyde Modisette & Vera Brown Modisette. He is survived by his wife, Sherry Lee; brother, Jeffery Mark Watson; aunt, Lawana Sistrunk; uncles, Joe Modisette and C.W. Modisette; children, John Thomas Watson, Mindy Kaye Watson, and Cindy Renee Watson-Jones; step-children, Heather Ham, Robbie Stevens, Johnny Stevens, and James Stevens; and grandchildren, Victoria Watson, Lincoln Watson, William Lobecker, Makayla Jones, Christopher Jones, and Makenzie Jones.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 21, 2021, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Longview. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. Mr. Watson will be interred in Lakeview Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lakeview Funeral Home in Longview, Texas.
