Manuel was born August 31, 1929 in Silver City to Alfonso and Josephine Costales Garcia. He had served his country honorably in the United States Army and upon his return, continued working at the uranium and copper mines with Sharon Steel. Manuel was also a member of the Roman Catholic Church.;

Manuel is survived by his daughter, Diana Temple (Don) of Silver City and sons, Mitchell Garcia and Gilbert Cruz of Silver City; grandchildren, Rebecca Garcia (Anna Ogas), Santos Cazares, Orlando Manuel Garcia, Monica Garcia, Carrie Strain, Aria Temple, Don Josiah Temple, Roxanne (Gilbert) Cheeseman, Nicole Garcia. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Diaz Garcia, two sons Alfonso Diaz Garcia, and Orlando Garcia; grandchildren Debbie Garcia and Jade Marcus Temple; a sister, Eloisa Placencio; and brother in law, Guillermo.
The Rite of committal and burial will follow at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Rebecca Garcia, Don Josiah Temple, Orlando Manuel Garcia, Nick Kanellos, Don Temple, Andrew Pollia, and Armando Placencio. Honorary bearers will be all his compadres and friends in life, his mining buddies and the nurses from Haven Home Health, Trina Ortiz, Angie Duval, Joe Castillo, and Victoria Vega.
