In 1930, born Mary Jane Russell to Francis and Catherine (Cashin) Russell in Hutchison, Ks. and raised in Visitation Parish in Kansas City, MO. Mary Jane attended Bishop Hogan High School and Mt. St. Scholastica in Atchison, Ks.

Mary Jane was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and career woman. Married 48 years to Ed Boyle who pre-deceased her, Mary Jane leaves behind children Jim Boyle, Mary Kay Gordon, Jean (Michael) Gomez, Meg (John) Langa. Daughter Eileen (Bob) Smith predeceased her mother. She also leaves nine grandchildren- Kiera (Esteban Toledo) Boyle-Toledo, Jamie Boyle (Drew Ayling), Jennifer Fleming (Roy), Kathleen Ramirez (Lorenzo), Brian Leas (Beth), Katie Leas, Stephanie Sachs (Andy), Elizabeth Langa (fiancée Spencer Raymond) and Jack Langa (partner Brianne Allen) and 11 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

She loved reading the newspaper, doing crossword puzzles, camping, playing bridge, listening to classical music, telling stories and eating good food. Independent and strong willed, Mary will be remembered as a lively woman who raised her large family while also working at Copley Hospital in Aurora, IL., First National Bank of Kansas City and St. Luke's Hospital, both in Kansas City. Her family enjoyed the fruit of all her avocations as a cook, seamstress, gardener, Irish Setter lover and decorator.

In retirement, Mary cared for her husband before his death as well as working as a docent at the Nelson Art Gallery. She loved her last job as a crossing guard at Tomahawk School in Prairie Village Ks.

A lifelong Catholic, Mary served as a Eucharistic Minister and enjoyed reading at Mass.

Mary was preceded in death by 2 of her 3 sisters, Margaret Russell and Carolyn Russell Marcel. Mary has an everlasting love for all her three sisters, including Sr. Frances Russell (known as Kitty) who she spent much time together eating, drinking, praying, laughing, and shopping.

Many thanks to the Little Sisters of the Poor and staff at Jeanne Jugan Center, Mary's home for the last 10 years, for their kindness and care. Also, thanks to the Catholic Community Hospice for their help at the end of Mary Jane's life.
