Audrey Jacobson Stevick, 81, Minot died on Sunday, February 6, 2022 in her home.
Audrey Fern Ellwein was born on October 19, 1940 in Beulah, ND to Erhardt and Ida (Reinhardt) Ellwein. She was raised on a farm north of Ryder and graduated from Ryder High School in 1958. After graduation, Audrey moved to Minot and was employed at the Minot Daily News.
Audrey married Lane Jacobson on July 10, 1960 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Ryder. They made their home in Minot where she was employed as a secretary by the North Dakota Highway Patrol and Northern States Power Company. Also, she owned and operated the Shirley Room Restaurant in the lower level of the Midwest Federal Building. Following retirement, she and her husband were involved in roadside fresh fruit sales which led to owning and operating a ND State Fair Booth called Peaches and Cream, featuring Audrey's famous peach pies. Lane died on January 1, 2009. Audrey continued to reside in Minot and married Doug Stevick on November 11, 2011 at Bethany Lutheran Church – Minot. They made their home in Minot. Doug died on April 4, 2020.
Audrey was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and was a regular participant in chili cook-offs. Her hobbies and special interests included volunteering, canning, baking, fishing and gardening. As a volunteer she donated her time and talent at Bethany Lutheran Church, Second Story and the V.F.W. Auxiliary. Her canning and baking talent were expressed in her pickled beets and sauerkraut and the baked goods she sold at bake sales. Also, she baked annually, since 1991, for the First International Bank Customer Appreciation Days during the holidays. Audrey enjoyed being outdoors and spent many weekends, when her children were young, camping and fishing at Parshall Bay. More recently, she especially enjoyed an annual fishing trip with her family. Also, she was well known at Rainbow Gardens at her garden spot.
Audrey's loving family includes her children: Carmen (Duane) Haugen of Minot, Scott (Tammy) Jacobson of Saugus, CA and Candice (Paul) Heskin of Savage, MN; stepchildren: Deborah Lazzaretti of Chesterfield MO, Terri (Justin) Lochthowe of Minot and LeNaye Stevick of Des Lacs; grandchildren: Matthew (Cathy) Haugen, Samantha (Lesly) Haugen, Tara (Jamie) Besancon, Katelyn Jacobson, Connor Jacobson, Sarah Heskin and Marshall Heskin; step grandchildren: Fiona, Eliza and Victor Lazzaretti; Dustin (Kelley) Vigstol, Mckenzie Vigstol, and Tanner, Mckenna, Stevie and Kali Nett; great grandchildren: Adira Haugen, Charlotte Besancon and Rylee Grace Besancon; siblings: Arnie (Jan) Ellwein of El Dorado Hills, CA, Melvin (Debbie) Ellwein of Mackay, Idaho, Larry (Bernie) Ellwein of Garrison, Linda (Larry) Johansen of El Dorado Hills, CA, and Bruce (Vicki) Ellwein of Bismarck; uncle: Clary Reinhardt, Wisconsin and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
