Ronald Dean Cox, 82, of Dean, Texas, passed on to his eternal home in Heaven on Thursday, February 24, 2022. R.D. was a devoted and loving husband for 52 years, as well as a beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He worked his entire career as an electric lineman for Texas Electric Service Co. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, RV traveling, dancing, family reunions, and generally all activities with his family.
R.D. was born on November 29, 1939 in Montague County, Texas to the late Altie and Etta Cox. He graduated high school in New Deal, Texas. R.D. then proudly served in the United States Navy until his honorable discharge on August 19, 1963.
R.D. married the beautiful young widow, Geraldine Shoemaker Cox on December 31, 1963, and from then on was "Dad" or "Daddy" to her three young children. To their union was born one additional daughter.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Geraldine Cox; his brothers, Billy Joe Cox, Kenneth Wayne Cox, Doyle Gene Cox, and Otis Earl Cox; his sister, Peggy Nell Cox; and his granddaughter, Michelle Brillhart.
He is survived by his brother, Bobby Don Cox; his children, Greg W. Cox and wife Linda, Sandra J. James and husband Robert, Douglas D. Cox and wife Kari, and Deana Ronette Jacobson and husband David; and his loving twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends between 6:30 and 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at First Baptist Church in Dean with Pastor Randy Osborn, officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls.
For those desiring, the family suggests memorials be made in honor of R.D. to First Baptist Church in Dean, 7241 Hwy. 79 N, Wichita Falls, TX 76305.
