Wisconsin Senator Joseph F. Andrea was born to Carmine and Natalina (Maletta) Andrea on November 29, 1927. Joseph served in the United States Navy and was discharged in 1948.

His political career began while he ws a student at Lincoln Jr. HS, and he regualary attened city council meetings. In 1966, he won his first election, serving two years as constable for the City of Kenosha. Then it was on to greater challenges, including five terms as Kenosha County supervisor (1968-1976), eight years as state representative (1976-1984), and telve years as a Wisconsin state senator (1984-1996).
