Per her marriage record to Henry A. House, Nancy House was the daughter of Conrad House.


Their marriage record from the Reformed German Church at Canajoharie reads:

[1789] dn 15 Febr: wurden ehel: verbunden, Heinrich Haus, hinterlassener ehel. Sohn, von Adam Haus, mit Anna Haus, ehel. Tochter von Conrad Haus.


["Hinterlassener" translates to left behind, or surviving.] ["mit" translates to "married"] [wurden ehel: verbunden translates to "were lawfully married."] ["ehel" translates to "lawfull" meaning the parents were married]


This means that both Adam and Conrad had passed away prior to their offspring's marriage in 1789.



Henry and Nancy had the following known children that survived to adulthood....Conrad, Mary "Polly", Elizabeth "Betsey", John 1798-1877 (no stone in Allen's Lake Cemetery), Isaac, Christina. Their other children who not much is known about were Catharine b. 1792, Dewald b. 1795, Heinrich b. 1814.

There appear to be several unmarked graves.There are also several headstones broken and fallen to the ground. Only about three upright stones were illegible.

Gravestone says: Nancy, widow of Henry A. House, died Jun. 26, 1851 (or 1854?), AE(age) 82 yrs (Born abt. 1769? or abt. 1772?)

Henry House, a soldier of the Revolution, and Nancy, his wife, were the parents of four children at least: Betsey, John, Christina and Nancy who was the wife of Hamilton Coleman. The widow of Henry House, Nancy, received a pension and is listed under the names of pensioners in the census of 1840, Nancy House living with Hamilton Coleman.


Name of Pensioner for revolutionary or military services, Age, Head of family with whom pensioner resided June 1, 1840.
