HOPKINS, James B., Jim was born December 6, 1924 and transitioned on January 15, 2022. Jim, fondly known as "Hoppy," was a wonderful, kind, thoughtful and loving husband, father and granddaddy. He was a fine gentleman and loved by many.
Jim grew up in Pa., where he was the class President and excelled in baseball, football and basketball in high school. He enlisted in the Air Force and served two years after high school. Jim then attended the University of Richmond, where he met his wonderful wife, Betty and was an active member of Lambda Chi fraternity.
Jim for decades was involved in sports and retired as the Regional Vice-President for Brunswick Corporation. He and Betty traveled extensively and played golf for many years at Brandermill Country Club.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty, of 68 years. He is survived by his son, James G. Hopkins; and daughter, Jeanne Maples (David); and grandchildren, Callie Hopkins (Ross) and Sam Hopkins.
A private family service will be held at a future time in the Memorial Gardens at Brandermill Church in Midlothian, Va. Donations in Jim's name can be made online to brandermillchurch.org.
