James Robert Boyd, age 83 of Richlands, Virginia passed away on Friday, February 25, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. Born June 10, 1938 in Buchanan County, Virginia he was the son of the late Robert and Mary Lowe Boyd. He was a coal miner, worked in construction building homes and enjoyed fishing.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by 2 step-mothers Ethel Nipper Boyd and Helen Boyd Shelton; 3 brothers, Edward Boyd, Estil Boyd, and Thomas Boyd; 4 sisters, Pauline Boyd Simmons, Mable Boyd Cooper, Helen Harr, and Betty Ferrell.
James is survived by his wife of 63 years, Barbara Sue Boyd; four children Ricky Boyd and wife Daphne of Bristol, TN, Jeff Boyd and wife Missy of Lexington, NC, Bobby Boyd and wife Marie of Richlands, VA, and Angel Boyd of Thomasville, NC; one sister, Nannie Lou Boyd Shelton and husband Allen of Paintlick, VA; one brother, Junior Eugene Boyd, of Richlands, VA; 27 Grandchildren; 29 Great Grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 9:00 P.M. Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff, Virginia.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, February 27, 2022 in the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel with Elder Cad Stacy and Elder Henry Cantrell officiating. Burial will follow in theNewberry Family Cemetery at Horton Ridge, Virginia. Pallbearers will be sons and grandsons.
