Michael J. Burke, Sr., 46, of Brick, NJ, passed away peacefully at Ocean Medical after a sudden illness on Monday, January 17, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Michael was born in Jersey City and lived most of his life in Kearny, NJ

Michael is the proud father of Michael Jr. and Jade.

He is the beloved son of Laura and John Burke, Sr. and the dear brother of Jamie Kearsley (Matt), John Burke (Josie) and Susan Burke. Precious grandson of Elizabeth and Paul Verdiano, Patsy and Louise Cioffi, and Rose Coleman.

He is the cherished uncle of Gary, Giovanni and Angelina.

He was the longtime companion of Valerie Daub.

Michael is loved by his aunts and uncles, Elizabeth and George Sowinski, Connie and James Bernardo, Sara and Andy Fourounjian, Joseph and Miriam Castrovinci, Denise and Steven Padelski and Gail and Maureen Coleman and his great aunts and uncles.

Michael will be lovingly remembered by his cousins Joseph, Jillian, Alison, Nicole Krista, Priscilla, Joseph, Anthony, Steven and Luke and many other special cousins.

Michael loved books, fishing and spending time with his family. He had a passion for education; his latest achievement was culinary arts.

He will be greatly missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Michael at the Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Dr., Kearny, NJ 07032 on Thursday, January 20, 2022, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, January 21, 2022, 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 99 Broadway, Jersey City, NJ 07306. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to: Tunnel to Towers Foundation (www.t2t.org)
