Mary Ellen Wagner, 72, passed away Saturday, February 19, 2022, in Des Moines, IA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Thursday, February 24, 2022, at Westover Funeral Home in Des Moines. Services will be held 2 pm Friday, February 25, 2022, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery, DSM, IA in Des Moines, Iowa.
Mary was born October 6, 1949, in Des Moines, IA, to Weslie and Mary (Mischo) Wagner. She attended St. Theresa's Catholic School for grammar school and graduated from St. Joseph's Academy. Mary then attended DMACC and obtained her certificate for computers.
Mary worked at Kurtz Hardware, Ziegler Caterpillar, and the with Mercy Charter. She then worked at Mercy Urbandale Medical Clinic which she retired from after 25 years. She was a Red Hat lady and enjoyed spending time with the group. She liked to float at the beach, rafting, swimming, and spending her time near the water. Mary loved movies and to read. She was also a bicyclist. She was a very social person, had many friends, and loved to go out with her friends and spend time with them. Mary was always able to keep in touch with her extended family and friends, even those who lived far away. She never married or had children, but she was a wonderful aunt to all the kids in the family. She adored visiting them and playing games with them.
Mary is survived by her sisters, Rose Marie Wagner of Windsor Heights, IA, Donna Batterton; brother, Allen (Vickie) Wagner; nieces, Michelle (Mike) Czarnecki, Jennifer (Troy) Wagner Beeler, Heather (Matt) Barry; Nephew, Jason Wagner. She was preceded in death by her parents.
