Jackie Watson Watkins, 81, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2022. She was born October 23, 1940 in Wake County to the late Haywood Thomas Watson and Esther Thomas Watson.
Jackie retired as a records clerk with the NC Department of Corrections. Jackie was a devoted wife, mom, sister, and Granny. She enjoyed reading books, taking trips to the mountains, gardening and canning vegetables in the summer, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a devoted Christian and she will be missed greatly but we know she is celebrating in Heaven with her Lord and Savior.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm, Sunday, February 27, 2022 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale. Burial will follow at Watkins Family Cemetery.
The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 2:00 pm to 2:45 pm at the funeral home.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband, James Robert Watkins; son, Jim Watkins; daughters: Lisa Johnson, Terri Journigan (Buddy); granddaughters: Heidi Johnson, Katie Mullenski (Christopher); grandson, JB Journigan; sister, Winifred Arnold.
In addition to her parents, Jackie was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Earl Watson; sisters, Rachel Burnette and Faye Allen and her daughter-in-law Teresa Watkins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607 or Vision Baptist Church, 7633 Buffaloe Road Raleigh, NC 27616.
