William Alpheus Jones was born to his parents, Alpheus Jones (1794-1863) and his second wife, Mary Little Dickinson (1817-1882). Born in Prescott, William moved to Walkerville, Ontario near Windsor where he married Minnie Maud Hunter (1861-1922) on May 27, 1886. The couple had two daughters, Byral Hunter Jones (b-1889) and Chrichton Dickinson Jones (b-1891). William worked for Canada Post in various locations, including Ottawa. William died in his hometown of Prescott.

A monument to Alpheus and Mary Jones marks the Jones family gravesite. Numerous footstones mark the graves. Ground frost and time have heaved several of the markers.
