Charles was a devoted husband and father and enjoyed spending time with his family. He retired from Firestone Mill after 37 years of faithful service. He enjoyed gardening, time spent on the water and at the beach with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Sarah Ruth Peeler May; sons Charles Odell May, Avery "Pete" Clinton May and Brian Dale May; grandchildren Justin May, Brandy May, Josh Hayes, JoyAnne Hollifield and husband Michael, Christy Thompson, Kimberly Love; and three great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 - 1:45pm, Sunday, February 27, 2002 at McLean Funeral Directors, Gastonia. A funeral service will follow in the Founders Chapel at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Roger Overton, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Gaston Memorial Park .
