The son of Dale Esker and Irene Mae Brock Jones, Dale grew up in Texarkana, Texas. He was born April 1938 in De Queen, Arkansas.
At the age of 16, Dale enlisted in the United States Army. He valued this service highly and attained the rank of CW3. He served in combat operations during the Vietnam War and later in Korea in support operations. His illustrious 22 year career culminated in his earning two Bronze Star Medals, Meritorius Service Medal, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Republic of Vietnam Service Medal. The Army Valorous Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation, Army Presidential Unit Citation, and Army Meritorious Unit Citation. And the U.S. Army Expert Qualfication Badge. He was part of Gideons International and Abilene Baptist Association. He served as a deacon and dedicated his life to God. His hobbies were spending time with family and friends, traveling, watching westerns, and going to gospel plays.
Dale is survived by his wife Doris Jean Jones of Abilene, Texas; sons Dale R. Jones, Jr. (Gina) of Borrego Springs, California, and William D. Jones (Tara) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; grandchildren William D. Jones, II (Sarah) of Abilene, Texas, and Amber Killgo (Ryan) of Pink, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren Broderick Revedy Jones and Emiko Graciana Jones of Abilene, Texas and Lyndon Ryan Killgo of Pink, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his brother David Jones (Donna) of Paragould, Arkansas and sisters Judith Durham of New Boston, Texas and Jean Stephens of Hooks, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his wife Yasuko Jones. Also his sisters Mary Frances Skinner, Janet Rayborn and Vivian Joan Ceasear, as well as brothers Jonathan Jones and James Jones. Also by his brother-in-laws Loyd Durham, Charles Skinner, Hershel Rayborn and Jimmy Stephens.
