James R. Bryant, 60, of Eastern Ave., passed away peacefully at his home January 23, 2022 surrounded by his family after a brief battle with ALS.

Jim was born September 5, 1961 in Sanford, the son of Robert and Joanne (Landry) Bryant. He grew up in Wells, graduating in 1979. He served in the U.S. Army for 6 years, returning home to marry Donna Fredette in 1984. They bought their forever home in North Berwick where they raised their children.

Jim worked construction for many years as well as Pease Air Force Base, Salmon Falls Landscaping and for the past several years had been in Maintenance for Pinnacle Health, formerly Varney Crossing Nursing in North Berwick.

An avid outdoorsman, Jim loved 4-wheeling and camping at Apache Campground where many special memories were made, especially playing in the lake and pool with the grandbabies. Jim was a gentle giant who kept to himself except for doing things that he held dear to his heart. He was a hardworking and wonderful provider for his family, loving and attentive husband, Dad, Grampa and Bumpa. He took great pride in being a member and Past Exalted Ruler of the Wells Elks Lodge #2738 where he was an avid fundraiser for drug awareness, Toys for Tots, school and community events. He touched many lives in his short time here with us.

Jim was predeceased by his parents and a granddaughter, Rosee Marie Bryant. He will be sorely missed by his wife of 37 years, Donna (Fredette) Bryant; son Heath Bryant and wife Curstee all of North Berwick; daughter Heather Wheeler and husband Andrew of Sanford; 2 brothers, Alton Bryant and wife Gayle of Arizona, Todd Bryant and wife Michelle of Indiana; 3 grandchildren, Raymond Harper and Jameson; 2 sisters-in-law, Lorraine Randall and husband David, Mary Little and husband Jeff; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration of Jim's life will be held at a later date. Spring interment in the Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery, Springvale, ME. Memorial Contributions may be made to the ELKS Lodge #2738, 356 Bald Hill Road, Wells, ME 04090
