Roger Irwin Hintz, 91, passed away at home on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Roger was born in Mishawaka on July 3, 1930, to the late Kenneth & Florine (Accoe) Hintz. On June 24, 1960, he married the late Arlene De Peel who preceded him in death on September 7, 1982. On November 23, 1983, he married the former Karen (Eisbrenner) Mendelsohn who survives. Also surviving are his children, Roger (Diane) Hintz Jr., Marsha (Dave) Roberts, Marianne Hollopeter, Diana Mendelsohn and Roy Mendelsohn; grandchildren, Eric, Ryan, Rebecca, Kenda, Derick, Jenny, Forrest, Glen and John; 8 great grandchildren; a sister, Amelia Whitinger; and brother, David Hintz. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Shirley and Joann Hintz and a brother, Roland Hintz.

Roger proudly serviced in the United States Army. He worked for Dodge Alliance for over 40 years before retiring in 1993. He was a life member of the VFW Post 360, Moose Lodge in South Bend, Quarter Century Club Dodges, Guys & Gals Dance Club, Ping Pong Players Club at Battell Center and Zion Church of Christ. Roger was also an avid fisherman.

Visitation will be 2 pm-6 pm on Sunday, February 27th in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, IN. Funeral services will be 11 am on Monday, February 28th at Zion United Church of Christ, 211 S. St. Peter Street, South Bend, IN 46617. Roger will be laid to rest in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens where VFW 360 and American Legion 161 burial squad will conduct military rites.
