Born Jan. 10, 1947, in Suffolk, she was the daughter of Frank Worth Baines and Ollie Mae Norwood Baines. She was predeceased earlier this year by her sister, Nathalia Shifflet of Stanardsville, Va.
Mary Ellen is survived by her daughter Rebecca and husband, Tony Chmelik, of Ijamsville, Md.; her daughter Amy and husband, Larry Flora, of Norfolk; and her son Doug and wife, Julie Chappell, of Frederick, Md.; her brother Frank and wife Sandra Baines, of Huntsville, Ala.; her brother James Oliver Baines, of Texas; her sister Kaye and husband, Frank Webster, of Staunton, Va; and her sister Deborah and husband, Greg Quinn, of Charlottesville, Va; also her 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren: Jonathon and wife Kathryn and daughter Genevieve; Anthony and wife Corrina and daughter Coralynn; Samuel; William; AnnMarie; Isabella; Christopher; Claire; Benedict; Jude; Jacinta; Hunter; Justin; Luke; Nathan; and Kali; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She will also be missed by her Best Forever Friend since second grade, Anita (Hicks) Holland, of Suffolk, and her dearest friend, Robert E. Dailey Jr. of Frederick, Md.
