She graduated from Colorado Springs High School in 1952 and attended Blair Business College, graduating in 1954. She worked for the U.S. Army at Ft. Carson, then HQ Army Air Defense Command (ARADCOM) at Ent AFB, and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) at Peterson AFB, serving for over 40 years as a secretary. In 1962, Joan married Don Lee Roberts, who preceded her in death, and also a brother, Wayne Potts. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, granddaughters & husbands, great-grandsons , plus four siblings, along with many nieces and nephews.
