Michael Murray
December 23, 1952 - February 14, 2022

Michael (Mike) Wayne Murray was born December 23, 1952, to the late Luster and Mary Edwards Murray. Resident of Westlake, Michael often attended Good Hope Baptist Church. Mike enjoyed fishing at the ponds and lakes on beautiful weather days. He had a creative way at working with his skills of building and drawing his whole life. He would dedicate hard work and time to helping others in the community while working locally with restaurants and neighbors in rebuilding Westlake and Lake Charles, after Hurricane Laura in 2020. He will truly be missed by his family and friends.

He departed this life on Monday, February 14, 2022 at 2 am in Sulphur, La. Mike leaves with cherishable memories of his wife Vanessa Shepherd Murray of Westlake, La; two daughters Tina R. Jasmine of Los Angeles, Ca., Kenya D. Walker of Lake Charles, La; one son, Calvin L. Jasmine of Los Angeles, Ca.; one sister Diane Hills of Dallas, TX; two brothers Larry and Bertha Murray and Calvin Murray of Lake Charles, La; 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Michael is joined to rest by his parents; five brothers Luster Jr., Rodney Murray, Ronald Murray, Lionel Murray and Marlon Ryan.

Michael has left his family with love, lessons and bravery to know him in life. He was a free soul and adventurous heart. As he descends and is set free to meet God's plans. He would want to leave us with strength and understanding that everyone will have their day and in order to see it. You just have to keep living. The family would like to thank everyone for joining and leave a prayer for us all to indulge:

Prayer For Peace

Father, honestly, right now my heart is troubled.
But Your Son tells me that in your house there are many rooms.
If this weren't true, He would not have told us so.
Nor would he have told us that He was going to prepare a place for us there.
Your Son also said that He will return and take us with Him so that we can be where You are.
Lord, I know that my Father/Brother is with You in heaven.

I thank You that a place was prepared for him there. Lord, I pray that the idea of my loved one living eternally with You brings peace to my heart. Amen.
