George Donald "Don" Nelson, 71, of White Hall, AR, passed away on February 20, 2022.

He was born on January 22, 1951 in Thornton, AR.

Don received his education in Fordyce, AR where he was a 1968 graduate of Fordyce High School with honors. He was a member of the football team, as well as a 6 year veteran of the Army National Guard from 1968 to 1974 with honors. Don retired from the Arkansas Department of Corrections where he was superintendent of overall construction projects.

He loved all sports and was a coach for almost 30 years in baseball, football, and basketball. During that time he coached his children and grandchildren.

Don was preceded in death by his birth mother, Mary L. Harper-Gavin; and his maternal grandparents, George Harper (11021451) and Mary E Jacobs-Harper (10643388).

He was survived by his wife of 45 years, Sandra Gale Parrish-Nelson; his sons, Bradley Nelson of Rison, AR and Jeff Nelson of White Hall, AR; his daughters, Kristi Nelson of White Hall, AR and Danielle Brodnax of Redfield, AR; and his grandchildren: Chris Smith, Jayanna Smith, Bentley Hopper, Kaleb Brodnax, Saige Brodnax, Erin Nelson, Taylor Nelson, Jeffrey Nelson, and Ryann Nelson.

The memorial services will be held in Oakgrove Baptist Church, 13112 Dollarway Rd, White Hall, AR with Bros. John Smith and Michael Hayslip officiating.

Memorials will be greatly appreciated given to Oak Grove Baptist Church.
