Mr. Willie C. Flowers died on July 10, 2015. Funeral services were held on Thursday, July 16, 2015 from New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Troy, AL with the Reverend Joseph N. Flowers officiating. Coleman Funeral Home of Elba was in charge of arrangements.

He was born in Coffee County on July 19, 1953 the sixth child of eight children, born to Nancy Flowers and the late Nathaniel Flowers. The upside of the Flowers family and sharecropping were the escape that Nancy planned to leave the small house they lived in and moved to the Shiloh Community for better living.

He attended Warren Smith Grammar School in New Brockton, AL. Willie was honorably discharged after serving eleven years in the Alabama Army National Guard. He was a former member of the Coffee County Chapter of the Alabama Democratic Caucus, which he served as Treasurer. Willie was employed as an assembler with Dorsey Trailers in Elba, AL for over 27 years and was a member of the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers. He joined Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. Later in life, he was also associated with Prosperity Lighthouse Church of God by Faith in New Brockton.

Willie was preceded in death by father, Nathaniel Flowers; two sisters, Pearlean Flowers, and Ola Mae Flowers; one niece raised as a sister Keisha Goosby; one brother, John Henry Flowers; one granddaughter, Nadia Banks; and one son-in-law, Avery Banks.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 39 years, Mary J. Flowers; one son, Willie A. Flowers (Kimberley), Elliott City, MD; four daughters - Priscilla Banks-Silar, Lakeland, FL, Sandra Cole (Clifford), Enterprise, AL; Jamilla Flowers, Ozark, AL; Jamyra Flowers, Elba; eleven grandchildren; mother, Nancy Flowers, Elba. Surviving siblings include three brothers - Joseph N. Flowers (Mary Elizabeth), Headland, AL, Leandra Flowers (Yvette), Elba, Danny Cole (Delisa), Mishawaka, IN; three sisters - Lee Etta Edwards (Bobby), New Brockton, AL; Elizabeth Martin (Tony), Lawton, OK; Janelle Oliver, Enterprise and Sharon Greenwood niece raised as sister. He also leaves five brothers-in-law, eight sisters-in-law, a special aunt, Annie Jewel Flowers, and two other aunts Georgia Flowers, and Emma Baker; one special brother-in-law, Emanuel Magwood, Sr. and two special nephews, Raysheik Magwood and Emanuel Magwood, Jr.; two special friends, Jerome Silar and Detrich Horstead; and a host of other nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends.
