Elisabetha Horsch and Georg Valentin "George" Strebel were married on January 29, 1856, in Guttenberg, Iowa. The couple had eight known children (four died in infancy):
- Henry (1857-1936)
- George (1858-1858)
- Magdalena (1860-1932)
- John (1861-1940)
- Wilhelm (1862-1862)
- Michael (1864-1864)
- Frederick (1868-1868)
- Jacob (1870-1923)

In the early 1870s, George, Elisabetha, and their four surviving children moved to Ontario, Canada, and settled on a farm in Wellesley Township.

Elisabeth died on November 15, 1902, in Wellesley Township.

Newspaper Death Announcement
The death of Mrs. (widow) Strebel occurred at the home of her son-in-law, Mr. Andrew Gerth, just west of Amulree, on Saturday last from dropsy. Mr. Henry Strebel, Bamberg; John, in Waterloo, and Jacob, near Berlin, are sons of deceased. The funeral occurred on Tuesday, the remains being interred in the cemetery on Hesse street.
