Deacon Amos L. Smith Jr. was born on Tuesday, August 31, 1948, to the late Amos Smith Sr. and Julia Mae Smith, in Pensacola, Florida. He transitioned to his position in heaven with this Lord and Savior on Monday, February 14, 2022. Amos was educated in the Escambia County School System, and he is a proud graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Class of 1967. Amos accepted Christ at an early age under the Leadership of Reverend Doctor Nathaniel Smith at the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Pensacola Florida. He served in the junior choir, the youth ushers, and attended Sunday School. Upon graduating from high school, Amos relocated to Brooklyn, New York working security for various companies.

He united in matrimony with Ruby Holley and this union brought forth three children, Martin, Jasmin, and Amos Jermaine.

Amos returned to Pensacola Florida in 1975 and secured gainful employment at St. Regis, Champion- International Paper in various capacities. He retired after 25 dedicated years of service. Amos reunited with Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and was ordained a Deacon in October 2000. Amos sang in the Men's chorus and the Gospel chorus, serving as the President of the Gospel chorus for a several years. He was faithful to his ministry.

Amos and Ruby relocated from Pensacola to the Metropolitan Atlanta area in 2013. He joined Antioch Baptist Church North under the leadership of Reverend Doctor Cameron Alexander where he served until 2017. He united with the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church under the Pastorate of Reverend James S. Hill. He was a faithful member who loved praising the Lord.

Amos enjoyed fishing, playing dominoes, and grilling. He was affectionately known as "Grill-Master Dino." Amos loved the combination of faith, family, food, and fellowship.

Smith, Children; Martin and Jannie Holley-Smith, Jasmin and Reverend James Hill, Jermaine Smith, Grandchildren; Joshua and Jadyn Hill, Mother; Julia Mae Smith, Siblings Joseph Smith Sr (Irma), Joyce Smith-Jones, Reverend Michael Smith Sr. (Teresa), Stephanie Artis (Ray),Sister-in-law, Mary Baxter (Ken), Brother- In-law Francis Holley (Patricia); an Adopted Brother David Hawkins, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members who all had a special bond with him, was loved by him and loved him dearly.
