Born in Palmyra on November 25, 1918, he was the son of the late Michael and Edna (Klopp) Bowman.
John worked as a Custodian for Palmyra High School. He was a Veteran of the United States Army during World War II, serving in Europe with the 498th Field Artillery Battalion of the 13th Armored Division. John was awarded the Bronze Star Medal in 1945. He enjoyed doing odd jobs around the home he shared with Mildred and working outdoors.
Surviving are 3 children, Sandy Baggesi of Stevensville, Michigan, Linda Jensen of Simi Valley, California and Fred Bowman, husband of Denise of Lancaster, a brother, David Bowman of Palmyra, 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by 3 siblings, Howard Bowman, Melvin Bowman, and Hilda O'Brien.
A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on a later date.
