Before retirement, she operated an in home daycare and worked in the textile Industry. She was a longtime member of Jewel Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, helped keep the nursery and served the church in many other capacities. Helen loved keeping her grandchildren, her great grandchildren, working in her yard; especially her flowers and going to the beach.
She will be remembered as strong Christian woman who loved her Lord, her family and her friends and will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were her husband, Dewayne Nance, a son, Bruce Nance and a grandson, Travis Nance.
She is survived by her two sons; her three siblings; her five grandchildren; and her three great grandchildren, Samantha, Beckett, and Carly.
A service to celebrate Helen's life will be held on Saturday morning, February 26, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, with Pastor Hallie Scott and Pastor Mark Albert officiating. The committal service will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Her family will receive friends on Friday, February 25, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank Mary Smith for her continued care of Helen over the last several years.
