BURLINGTON, VT. - Arnold Arthur Barnes, age 83, of Burlington, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 20th 2004 at the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, Vt.

He was born on March 22nd 1921 in Winooski, Vt., the son of Frank and Cecile Mary (Vasseur) Barnes.

Arnold served his country honorably during World War II with the 36th General Hospital Corps in Italy, France and North Africa.

He married Geraldine Blanche Sweeney on April 28th 1962 in Burlington, Vermont. She predeceased him on February 22nd 1997.

In civilian life, he had worked at the Bobbin Shop, American Woolen Mill, Burlington Paper Stock, and Queen City Metal Co.

He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Co-Cathedral in Burlington, Vt.

He was a member of V.F.W. Post 782, R.V.A. in Winooski, Vt., D.A.V, Chapter 5, and the Burlington Eagles Club.

In his spare time, he loved hunting and fishing.

In addition to his wife; Geraldine Barnes, he was predeceased by his parents; his father Frank Barnes on March 19th 1955 and his mother Cecile Barnes on March 25th 1948, and one brother; Raymond Francis Barnes on February 1st 1995.

Arrangements by the Elmwood-Meunier Funeral Home on 97 Elmwood Avenue in Burlington, Vt.

Interment was at the New Mount Calvary Cemetery on Plattsburg Avenue in Burlington, Vt.
