Charles Tyler "Ty" Riddle, 36, of Pendleton, Indiana passed away on February 20, 2022. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service at 229 South Rangeline Road, Anderson, IN.
Visitation will be held Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service.
Burial will be held immediately following the services at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery at 6805 Doctor M.L.K. Junior Boulevard, Anderson, IN.
Ty was born on October 7, 1985, in Anderson, Indiana to Dean and Laura Riddle.
Ty grew up in Anderson, Indiana where he attended Leach Elementary, Frankton Junior High and went to Frankton High School for one year. He then moved with his family to Muncie, Indiana where he attended and graduated from Muncie Central High School.
Ty was a competitor. He couldn't stand to lose. That fierce and competitive spirit stayed with him all his life. He spent his youth playing baseball at Shadyside Park in Anderson and going with his dad to every basketball court they could find. He thrived on the competition and would have it no other way than to stay back to shoot "just one more shot" or field "just one more grounder". As he grew older, his love for sports and competition only increased. His time was spent either on a baseball field or a gym floor. He spent his summers traveling the country playing AAU basketball and travel baseball for his dad Dean. When he wasn't playing travel ball, he was playing school ball.
When Ty wasn't participating in sports in one way or another, he could often be found with his family. He cherished the bond he had with all of them. He was especially close to his mom, dad, sister and grandparents. Ty loved his mom and dad so deeply. He wanted nothing more than to make them proud. Ty appreciated his family cheering squad that followed him far and wide to support him. He loved singing and harmonizing with his mom, Laura. He loved having sleepovers at his grandparent's and filling their lives with his big personality. Ty loved hard even as a kid. That hard love might have made it so he found his nose stuck in a corner more than a time or two, but his family wouldn't have wanted him to share his love any other way. That was just who Ty was. Growing up he and his sister Liz were partners in crime. They were the keepers of each other's secrets. They were each other's friend and confidant even throughout their adult lives. The days they spent together as kids forged a bond between the two of them that could not be broken regardless of miles, time, space or circumstance. He was Liz's guy.
As he grew older, some of Ty's proudest accomplishments as a young man were the successful basketball tournament runs he was a part of at both Muncie Central High School and Anderson University. Ty was a part of the 2004-2005 Muncie Central High School Boys Basketball State Runner-up team. He was also a part of the Anderson University Men's Basketball team which made an appearance at the NCAA Division 3 tournament in 2010. As a young adult he loved coaching alongside his dad in various coaching positions around central Indiana.
As an adult Ty could often be found cheering on, or rather screaming at the Indiana Hoosiers. His competitive streak went beyond his playing days, far into his love for the Hoosiers as a fan. He loved watching IU games with his dad so they could scream at the tv right alongside each other. In addition to IU games, he enjoyed hunting and fishing at his grandparent's farm in southern Indiana. He loved to work with his hands, fix things and bring order to the world. He was particularly proud of being an uncle to his niece Ella "EJ" and nephew Grayson. He loved to spoil and play with them.
In the last year and a half Ty had found a family of his own. He had met Brittany Enright and her children Braelee, Sophie and Kaison. They quickly became his family who he loved, cherished and was fighting his hardest for. He had found the family he had so greatly desired. On August 22, 2022, he and his fiancé Brittany Enright welcomed their baby boy, Lincoln Tyler Riddle into the world. Ty wanted nothing more than to be a father and having Linc was the proudest and happiest day of his life. He met his son with the same big love and heart he had always shared with the rest of his family.
Ty will be greatly missed by his family and loved ones. He had a way about himself that made him larger than life. He was abundant. He was over the top in all the right ways; in the way he laughed, the way he sang at the top of his lungs, the way he hugged, the way he stuck to his opinions and the way he loved. The things he did were big. He felt big, cared big, reacted big, fought big and most of all loved so, so big. Those are the things we will remember about Ty. His dad Dean said it best when he explained that Ty was imperfect, and yet, he was perfect. He and his life were ugly at times, but they were also beautiful. We, as his family, are just so glad he was all those things. Most importantly, we are so glad that we were all blessed to be a part of his life and his fullness.
