Eddie Johnson, age 70 of Gatesville, passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Scott's Funeral Home Chapel, with his brother, Pastor Mike Johnson, Pastor Wray Nunn, and Elder Lee O. Ford officiating. Committal services will be performed at the funeral home chapel. The private interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Eddie Gene Johnson was born on December 19, 1951, in Odessa to the late Mose Johnson and Hannah Jean Hainsworth Johnson. He graduated from Gatesville High School in 1971 and after graduation began working for the City of Gatesville. He entered the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in the 1970s.
After his discharge, he returned to work for the City of Gatesville and later for Waste Management, when the city entered into a solid waste contractual agreement.
He married Mary Ann Moore on May 15, 1988, and she preceded him in death on February 21, 2022. Eddie enjoyed football and was an avid Dallas Cowboy football fan.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Mose Wayne Johnson; and a grandson, Dominique Moore.
Eddie is survived by step-children, Dianna Smith, Benny Moore, Kenny Moore and wife, Cynthia, James Moore and wife, Jenifer, Tina Hines; brothers, Pastors Mike Johnson, and wife, Martha Johnson, Phil Johnson; sisters, Charlotte Smith, Wanda Johnson; and 17 grandchildren.
