Susan J. Fry, 73, of Columbia City, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Parkview Whitley Hospital. Born January 19, 1949 in Fort Wayne, she was the oldest child of William and Joan (Blanchard) Kessler.


She graduated from Churubusco High School with the Class of 1967. On September 4, 1970, she married Richard Alan Fry. Susan began her work career at Precision Plastics before becoming a mother to Sheila, Nicole and Devon. After all her children were in school, Susan worked in the restaurant industry including over 15 years with Walker's Restaurant in Wolf Lake. Even though she enjoyed working, Susan retired to help Alan after he suffered a stroke. As a family, Susan and Alan took their children square dancing and she always was there to support them in any activities they were involved with.


Being a gifted seamstress, Susan enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting. She was a great friend to many with a likeable personality. Susan was helpful, always there if you needed her she, adored her grandchildren and babysat numerous children.


Susan is survived by her daughters, Sheila (Jeff) Keener and Nicole (Sam) Cavanaugh; son, Devon (Anna ) Fry; brother, Randy (Karen) Kessler; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, William Kessler; husband Alan Fry in 2016; and recently her mother, Joan Kessler and a brother, Kent Kessler.
