JANUARY 11, 1938 – FEBRUARY 16, 2022

Robert Clifford Horton
Robert Clifford Horton (known as Bob), age 84, was born on January 11, 1938 in Euclid, Ohio. He went to his heavenly home on February 16, 2022 with his family by his side. He is the son of Clifford and Erma Horton. His family relocated to Tampa, Florida when he was a child, so he grew up and spent a good part of his life in the Sunshine State.

Bob served his country in the Naval Reserve from 1955 to 1956, and in the Air Force from 1956 to 1960. He owned a couple of businesses and was in the automotive industry for several years before going into the ministry as a Baptist pastor. He pastored churches across the country in the states of Washington, Missouri, Louisiana, Texas, and Florida, touching many lives along the way. Even in retirement, he was actively involved in church ministry services in the local area.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Roy (Betty) Horton; his wife of 42 years and mother of their four children, Marilou Horton; and his wife of six years, Emma Horton. He is survived by his four daughters, Becky (Troy) Shealy, Vicky (Aren) Waters, Lee Ann Moody (Antonio Davis), and Kathleen (Kelly) Green; his wife, Nancy (Cottrell) Horton, six granddaughters, one grandson, and one great granddaughter, along with several nieces and nephews.

Bob loved his family and enjoyed playful teasing with his grandchildren. He was a man of few words. However, he had a passion for helping others and was quick to offer words of encouragement. Those closest to him got to experience his witty and often sarcastic humor. He enjoyed sports, especially cheering on the Florida Gators and Atlanta Braves.

He will be greatly missed by all. We know his mission in life was that everyone he met would enter into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We are grateful that our goodbyes here are not final and that we will meet again.
