Malcolm D. (Mac) Campbell, 84, Dryden, MI passed away December 12, 2021 at Henry Ford Hospital Hospice in Clinton Township, MI. He was a Needham, MA native and moved to Florida in 1968.

Mac was preceded in death by his wives Carleen Campbell (married 29 years) in 1996 and Wanda August Campbell (married 16 years) in 2017, his parents Donald and Doris Campbell, his brother Cameron Campbell and sister Dorothy Campbell.

Mac is survived by his daughter Kit Grabowski (Mike); 4 grandchildren, Jason, Allen, Marcus and Alyson; 3 nieces, Cynthia Campbell, Heather Campbell (Jerry Landeck) and Janet Campbell and their families.

A former insurance underwriter and agent, he supported his family and gave solid sound advice.

After he retired he went to work, briefly, at Disney's Wide World of Sports and then transferred to tour guide/bandit/gangster at The Great Movie Ride at Disney Hollywood Studios and was recognized by his many friends and co-cast members as the oldest Gangster/Bandit/Tour Guide ever; an honor he remembered and took seriously until the end.

Mac's pride and joy were, however, his grandkids. He taught them many things in the last 6 years of his life. He taught them to play cribbage, Fan Tan and all about Barbershop. Even though none of his grandkids have interest now, they know there is always a place for them in the worldwide musical family of Barbershop. His proudest moment in recent years was the day his oldest grandson Jason was awarded his Eagle Scout; an honor he never reached.

Mac had a long membership in the Barbershop Harmony Society (SPEBSQSA), almost 70 years, and with Sweet Adelines International for approximately 30 years including directing chapters in both organizations in Detroit, Michigan Birmingham, Alabama, St. Petersburg where his quartet The Suncoasters performed as the quartet in St. Pete Little Theater's production of The Music Man, Ocala and Hernando, Florida. He also sang in numerous quartets over a span of 60 years, including on the International Competition stage three times. Barbershop harmony was his passion and he promoted it and worked tirelessly to preserve the musical art form, even until he passed with the music playing much of his final days.

His daughter, Kit, will receive friends at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala, FL 33712 on Saturday, March 19, 2022, beginning at 1pm. Memorial service will begin at 2pm and gathering to follow until 5pm. To virtually attend the service, please follow this link: https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/3143586743. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or Youth in Harmony via the Barbershop Harmony Society. Online condolences may be sent to hiers-baxley.com.
