After graduating from high school in 1957, he graduated from Delta State University in Cleveland, MS in 1961 with double Bachelor of Science degrees in Mathematics and Business Administration (Marketing). In January1962, he entered Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI and was commissioned as an Ensign in the U.S. Naval Reserve in June 1962. He was immediately assigned to the Bureau of Naval Weapons, Washington, D.C. where he was the Navy's Terrier, Tartar, and Talos Surface-to-Air Missile Procurement Administrator. During this assignment, he administered the procurement and consignment of those missiles from DOD contractors to satisfy U.S. Navy and other NATO shipboard requirements. He was released from active duty in June 1965. Following his active duty, he served in various reserve units, all in the Naval Air Reserve Program, including six years of executive officer assignments. He retired as a Captain in the U.S. Navy. He later worked at IBM for 27 years as a national account executive with responsibility for managing a marketing unit covering six southeastern states. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Davidson of Big Canoe, GA; children, Pam (David) Campbell of Milton, GA, and Brian (Christy) Davidson of Pensacola, FL; and grandchildren, A J Campbell, Courtney Campbell, Tyler Davidson, Chase Davidson, and Kinnlie Davidson.
