Nan "Penny" Penland Smith, 78, of Spartanburg, SC, died Friday, February 18, 2022 at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born August 19, 1943 in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Nolen Henry Penland, Jr. and Nan Elizabeth Bassett, and was the wife of the late "A.W." Arthur Watson Smith, III.
Penny was a 40-year member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Kelly Smith Kops (Mark) of Milton, GA; her son, Kevin Watson Smith (Cynthia) of Charlotte, NC; grandson, Richard Kops of Dunwoody, GA; granddaughters, Anna Kops of Alpharetta, GA, Lillian Smith, Charlotte, NC, Claudia Smith of Charlotte, NC; and her sisters, Beebe Seeley of Spartanburg, SC and Libby Evatt of Boiling Springs, SC. Along with her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by a son, William Derek Smith.
