At the age of 33 he went to the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary School where he received his VMD degree (Veterinary Medical Doctor). He was beloved by many as "Doc" who took care of their pets and large animals.
He was an avid Nittany Lion fan who enjoyed many weekends with his family at Penn State. His favorite holiday was the 4 th of July.
