Edward was born October 26, 1934, in Bartholomew County, Indiana, the son of Herschel and Flossie Pruitt Bridgewater.
In December of 1986, he married Lois Cook.
Mr. Bridgewater worked at Product Engineering Company where he retired after years of service. In his younger days, Ed raced motorcycles on the flat track, enjoyed playing softball and loved to fish. He became an avid hot rod car builder and found happiness in restoring historical automobiles as well. Mr. Bridgewater would attend car shows and proudly display his shiny restorations that were, truly, works of art. Ed held a great source mechanical and other knowledge and many people called upon him to help fix or solve their issues over the years. He was also very passionate about animals and their care. He loved his pets.
Survivors include children, Dana (Samantha Seright) Bridgewater, Geneva (Rick) Davis, Rob Cook, all of Columbus, Bobby (Shelly) Cook of California, Linda (Gerald) Taylor of Georgia; grandchildren, Justine (Greg) Wallace, Carson Greene, Derek Davis, Ashley Hunter, Whitney Johnson; great-grandchildren, Logan Wallace and Jovi Wallace; brother, Jerry Bridgewater, also of Columbus; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois; daughters, Denise McClintic, Edna Bridgewater; sister, Geneva Bridgewater and brother, Ira Bridgewater.
A graveside committal service will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Ohio Chapel Cemetery.
