Lewis graduated from Sharpsburg High School in Bath County, Kentucky in 1959 and worked in production for 28 years with Gen Corp in Marion, retiring in 1989.
Lewis enjoyed fishing, hunting, and growing roses. He liked sports and was a fan of the Indiana Hoosiers Men's basketball team and the Indianapolis Colts. He enjoyed watching westerns and loved the dogs he owned over the years. Lewis especially loved his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his son, Michael (Lori) Henderson of Westerville, OH; daughter, Cathy (Lyndon) Hiatt of Swayzee; granddaughters, Alyssa (Zach) Powell of Converse and Isabel Henderson of Westerville, OH; grandson, Bryce Henderson of Westerville, OH; great-granddaughter, Brinley Powell; great-grandson, Huston Powell; sisters, Edith (John) Bradley and Mary (Charles) Hart; brothers, Jim (Late Betty Jean) Henderson and Bob (Lena) Henderson; plus several nieces, nephews and friends.
Lewis was preceded in death by his father, John Burton Henderson; mother, Minerva Henderson; wife, Iona "Nonie" Henderson; sisters, Ruby Forsythe, Edna Marciewski and Ann Middleton; brothers, George Henderson and John Burton Henderson, Jr.; half-brothers, Johnny "Preach" Henderson and Edgar Henderson; and half-sister, Magdalene Ring.
A Graveside Service to celebrate Lewis' life will take place on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at Grant Memorial Park, 1606 W. 26th St., Marion, IN., with Rev. Dr. Tom Mansbarger officiating. Burial was made at Grant Memorial Park.
