Amy M. Barnes, 41, died Thursday, February 17, 2022 at HaysMed surrounded by her loving family after a courageous, three-year battle with cancer.

She was born January 15, 1981 in Beloit, Kansas the oldest child of Dan and Cathy (Modrow) Davies.

She graduated from Beloit High School in 1999 and attended Kansas State University and graduated from Fort Hays State University. She was a patient accounts representative at HaysMed for almost 20 years.

On May 4, 2013 she was united in marriage to Dick Barnes at Our Lady, Help of Christians Catholic Church in Antonino.

She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Hays, and enjoyed KU Basketball, and the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs. Her lovable personality was shared freely with her friends and family, especially her nieces and nephews, and she was affectionately called "Aunt Amy" by many.

Survivors include her husband Dick, of Hays, her parents: Dan and Cathy Davies, of Beloit, her father and mother-in-law: John and Mary Barnes of Hays, her brother: Donny Davies of McPherson, her sister: Stacey Lunsford and husband Brad, of Hesston, two brothers-in-law: Mark Barnes and fiancé Susan Nagel of Kansas City, and Clint Barnes and wife Abby of Hays, a sister-in-law: Danielle Barnes of Hays, two nephews: Coyce Lunsford and Benjamin Zeller, and two nieces: Bristol Lunsford and Evey Barnes.

She was preceded in death by grandparents: Dwight and Lois Davies and Roy and Ruth Modrow, and by a brother-in-law: Michael Barnes.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Monday, February 21, 2022 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Elias Chinzara officiating. Burial will follow in Our Lady, Help of Christians Cemetery in Antonino, Kansas. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 on Sunday and from 9:00 am until 9:45 on Monday, all at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. A vigil service and rosary will begin at 6:30 pm on Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Dreiling/Schmidt Cancer Institute or for masses.
