She passed away in Ardmore, Oklahoma on February 18, 2022 at the age of 94.
She went to school at Chigger Hill, Mt. Washington, Springer and Dickson Schools.
Addie Bell Rutledge married Harold "Jack" Allen on May 8, 1948 in Gainesville, Texas. They made their home in Pauls Valley where they lived out their lives. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and A. T. & T. for 32 and one-half years. Then she went to work as a receptionist at the Physicians & Surgeons Clinic for over 10 years. She had beautiful flowers in her yard, she mowed her own years and kept it looking very pretty. She was a member of The First Baptist Church of Pauls Valley. She was a long-time member of the Order of the Eastern Star and she also was a proud member of The Red Hat Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Allen, her parents and 6 brothers, Virgil, Floyd, Randy, Vurner, Edward and Robert, and 4 sisters, Laura May Roady, Florence Winford, Iva Clark and an infant sister.
Addie Bell was not a patient at The Willows, she was a part of the family there. The Willows took good care of her every day. She spent her days playing Skipbo and keeping everyone lined out at the table because she was the 'pro'. She had many friends especially the residents at The Willows. She was an absolute pleasure to know and to love. Aunt Addie Bell was the epitome of respect and dignity. She was a "Legend" among us and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held at Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be a private service at Mt. Olivet Cemetery on a later date under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home. We invite you to send a message of condolence and view the family's guestbook at the Guest Book link on this page.
