Michael (Mike) Jay Schwarz, born in Brooklyn, New York, loving husband, father, grandfather, passed away on February 18, 2022 at age 86 from a long battle with Prostate Cancer.
Mike is survived by his wife, Penny (Ulman) Schwarz of Pikesville, Maryland and his son, Stefan Schwarz of Reston, Virginia. Also he is survived by his former daughter-in-law Christine McCabe, grandchildren James Schaffer, and Samantha Schaffer, brother and sister-in-law Louis and Diana Ulman, and his nephews, Ken (Jaki) Ulman, and Doug (Amy Grace) Ulman. He was the son of the late Minnie and Sigmund Schwarz.

Mike attended Peekskill Military Academy and attained his BS at Johns Hopkins. He received his JD at The University of Maryland Law School. Mike practiced in solo and small private law practices for over 40 years as a very successful bankruptcy attorney in Baltimore, Maryland.

Mike was very involved with his son throughout his life, and served on the board of the Klinefelter Syndrome organization when his son was diagnosed in his mid-20s with this rare genetic condition.

They hosted many musicians and concerts in their home and helped to promote Ragtime music. The musicians became an integral part of their extended family. They subscribed to and were avid supporters of the Metropolitan Opera, Opera Orchestra of New York, Washington Concert Opera, the Handel Choir, and Pro Musica Rara.

Mike had an extensive sheet music collection consisting of over 4000 pieces. This was an important part of his life.

Mike lived his life on his own terms. His mind was sharp right up to his death. He was always there for his wife Penny and loved her dearly, as evidenced during their 58 years of marriage. Mike's memory will live on in his wife and son, as well as many extended family and friends.
