Wesley Orrin Garrett, age 100, passed away on February 6, 2022, in Wildwood, FL.

Wesley is survived by his son Gordon Garrett of The Villages, FL; and his daughter Donna Wengert, of Utica, NY. He was preceded in death by his former wife Lorraine, of Holland Patent, NY; his life partner, Gloria Henningson, of West Haverstraw, NY; and his son, Allen, of Holland Patent, NY.

Wesley was born on November 2, 1921, in South Trenton, NY, to parents Wayne and Edna Garrett. He graduated from Holland Patent High School in 1939. He worked most of his life as a welder in construction for more than 40 years.

Wesley was a great family man and a loving father. He married Lorraine Skjellerup in 1940 and the couple had three children together.

Wesley was a social, active man who was deeply involved in church work and youth baseball for the majority of his life. He enjoyed working and traveling and was extremely proud of his military service during WWII. He achieved the rank of Sergeant in the 84th Infantry Division and fought in the Battle of the Bulge where he was wounded and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for Heroism. His family and friends will always remember him as a very friendly and generous person.

A funeral is scheduled for later this spring at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
