Diana Lynn Shelton, age 73, of Auburn, IN and formerly of Elwood, IN passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at Auburn VIllage surrounded by her family. She was born in Indianapolis on December 15, 1948, to the late Andrew Prouse and Effie (Goble) Yocum.
Diana was a devoted Christian woman who had a strong faith in the Lord. She retired in 2006 from General Motors after 30 years of service and was a member of the UAW Local 2209. Diana married James Shelton on September 27, 1997, and he preceded her in death on June 15, 2019.
Diana and Jim enjoyed going to festivals, flea markets, auctions, and camping while attending the covered bridge festivals. She was a true shopper who loved to get a good bargains. Diana enjoyed sewing, crocheting, making quilts, making jelly, and cooking. She enjoyed music, and enjoyed attending the Elvis Tribute concert event annually for many years.
During her recent years, Diana has been given the position of Resident President at the care facilities that she has resided in. She was an advocate for all residences, but especially for those unable to stand up for themselves. Diana enjoyed her grandchildren and attending activities they were involved in. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she had made peace with the Lord and now is at peace in heaven.
Diana is survived by her son, Andrew Collins of Indianapolis; three daughters, Malinda (Paul) Denton of Indianapolis, Brenda Singer of Elwood, and Sue Ann (Dan) Crooke of Kimmell; seven grandchildren, David Collins, Frances (Chris Fisher) Huffer, Nicole Huffer, all of Indianapolis, Cory Joseph Summers, Cody (Jamie) Summers, Chase Singer, and Dakota Singer all of Elwood; five great- grandchildren, Linkin, Eli, Cooper, Mason, and Harper; brother William Prouse of Anderson; sister, Phyllis (John) Emrich of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James Shelton; four brothers, Homer, Gerald, Dicky, and Paul Danford; brother-in-law, Neal Bastin; and two special friends, Carolyn Shelton, and Sue Miller.

Family and friends are invited to call from 11 am to 1 pm on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Dunnichay Funeral Home 1113 South Anderson Street Elwood, IN 46036. A funeral service to honor Diana's life will be at 1 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home with her son-in-law Dan Crooke officiating. Burial will take place in Elwood Cemetery.
