James David Freeman, 88 of Springfield passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022.
Jim was born April 25,1933 in Springfield to Tom and Clevabel Freeman. He was a 1951 graduate of Springfield Senior High School. Then attended Drury College where he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity and graduated in 1955. Jim and his dad started Freeman's Menswear in 1960 and in 1965 his brother, Tommy joined the business and the store operated until 1999 when both retired.
Jim was a charter member of Pet Therapy of the Ozarks, a member of the Ozarks Kennel Club and Springfield Dog Training Club. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and active with the Clarion (church newsletter), the Next to New store, and Crosslines. Jim was a member of the Abou Ben Adhem Directors Staff and, also a member of Royal Order of Jesters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anna Brown Freeman who died September 19, 2014 and their sons, David Adams Freeman who died November 6, 2006 and Bruce H. Freeman who died September 2, 2020.
Jim is survived by daughter, Kate Etter and grandson, Alex Etter; brother, Tommy Freeman and wife, Rene, as well as his dog, Mandy.
Burial Friday, March 4, 2022, in Maple Park Cemetery.
