Robert "Bob" Julian passed away at home in Hudson Oaks, Texas on May 14th, 2020 at the age of 89 with family by his side.
Bob grew up near Trousdale, Kansas where he lived until moving off for college in 1949 at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas.
Bob funded his college education through athletic scholarships in track and football at Kansas State and remained a lifelong fan of K-State's football program. He often commented on how grateful he was for the athletic scholarships he received which gave him the opportunity to get a college education. He was a Lifetime member of the Golden Cats, Kansas State's club of former football players.
After graduating college with a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture, Bob taught high school vocational agriculture in Kansas and Arizona. In 1967 he earned his Master's Degree in Agricultural Education at the University of Arizona. He would go on to earn his Doctorate in Education at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater in 1976.
After earning his master's degree he went to work for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and spent four years with his family of five in northeast Brazil working to develop a vocational agriculture teacher training program at a university there.
After his time in Brazil, he worked at K-State and a few other universities creating agricultural training programs funded by USAID for developing countries around the world.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife Charlene. He is survived by his three sons: Doug (Lynn) Julian of Henderson, Kentucky; Arlyn (Roxi) Julian of Eagan, Minnesota; Kent (Melody) Julian of Hudson Oaks, Texas; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A memorial service followed by a meal will be held at the United Methodist Church in Trousdale, Kansas on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at 11 AM. The burial will follow at the Belpre City Cemetery in Belpre, Kansas.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, any financial donations in memory of Bob be made to the United Methodist Church in Trousdale, Kansas and sent to:
